home project – school paper organizer

Admitting right here – I might be a bit of a hoarder when it comes to the boys’ crafts/artwork from school. Both boys are still only in preschool but the amount of stuff that comes home in those folders can be a bit overwhelming.

I found this idea on Pinterest, more specifically on the amazing blog I Heart Planners (this link will take you directly to the blog post). A bin, for each student in your home, that holds all artwork, school awards/achievements, etc., in a safe, organized place.

In creating these bins, I did throw a LOT of papers away :(. But it was such an amazing feeling to have what I kept, organized and in a safe spot -but out of the way.

For this project you will need:

The most time consuming part of this project was formatting and creating the labels. I created my labels, with a 4×3.3 template, on word. If you’d like to bypass this step, I can send you pre-made labels, just like mine, via email! I printed off the labels from preschool to 12th grade. Each year, I can write down the information – age, school, year, teacher – and stick them on the file folder.

I am also going to add the boys’ school pictures from each year to the front of the file folders. I will either double-sided tape it or glue it to the front of the file folder.
